Happy Canada Day!

Praise God that all our participants arrived safely in Vanastra! They are all settled in and getting to know each other, especially their small groups whom they will be working with all week. Each team has the name of a Veggie Tales character. Upon arrival the youth signed in, grabbed their goodie bags, shirts and work books, had their pictures taken and settled into their sleeping quarters. They then had free time to mingle and meet.

For the first night they were asked to have supper with their small groups.  Meals are served buffet style, and tonight we were treated to sausage on a bun and salads.

The participants are responsible for the cleanup in the Fellowship Hall after each meal.
The kitchen staff is hard at work doing their thing.
The Canadian and American flags were up for both our Canadian and American participants,
and some of the students took the opportunity to use them for a photo shoot.
Skateboarding out in the parking lot.
Pool, foosball and shuffleboard.
Before the worship service many of the students had the opportunity to meet with their prayer partners from Huron County over a dessert social.

We started the service by singing the Canadian National Anthem in honour of Canada day.
Then 'The Upside of Maybe' led us in worship.

Mark, our speaker spoke on Genesis 3:6-10 and how Adam and Eve felt ashamed of their nakedness; how they didn't feel adequate.  He then went on to relate how we also don't feel adequate and how this often breaks our peace; but also went on to know that God knows that we feel inadequate but we can have peace despite our inadequacies.

Mark had everyone discuss some of the inadequacies that people, especially youth, might feel.

Some of them were then shared and listed.

After the worship service, the host team introduced themselves, shared the rules and other general information the participants need to know.
