Huron SERVE 2013 Commissioning Service

The Commissioning Service for Huron SERVE was held Sunday April 28th at 7 pm in Vanastra Community Christian Reformed Church.

The praise team opened the night by singing "Agnus Dei" .
Our Work Sites Coordinator, Chris, welcomed us all to the service, and gave a short explanation of what SERVE is all about.  Mary Jane, the Host Team Coordinator, introduced the team and invited us up to the front.
While we were up there one of our prayer warriors, Bill, came up and asked the congregation to surround us, both physically and spiritually, while he prayed over us and asked God to bless Huron SERVE.
We then gave the congregation a small taste of what a SERVE service will be like by having a praise and worship session singing "Days of Elijah", "Blessed Be Your Name", "10,000 Reasons" and "Amazing Grace/My Chains are Gone".

Gil came up and read to us from Romans 12: 1-2, which is the theme verse for SERVE this year.
Gil spoke to us on the idea that "The Kingdom is More than simply hitting 'Like' on Facebook".  Our Christian walk must be an active response to His saving grace.
The praise team led us in singing "Surrender" and "Mighty to Save".
and Gil sent us on our way with God's Blessing.
We finished the evening with coffee and fellowship.
